Having used both I have to say that Svelte is superior - which makes sense because it has been able to learn from previous frontend frameworks like React during it's development. I would highly recommend giving it a try, there is a good chance you may never look back! React is not going anywhere, but many new projects are choosing Svelte for good reason. Also check out SvelteKit (the Next.js equivalent) if you need additional functionality.

Yep, I think it's all about educating users that web apps are a thing - it's just not that common knowledge. People don't associate 'websites' with 'apps'.

Exactly, why would you develop an app that requires permission from a group of people known to be censorious and applies arbitrary conditions for approval. NO THANKS. App stores were a step backwards for internet freedom, luckily we don't need them!

As more apps get banned from the 'trusted' app stores they will lose credibility and people start to question what a 'verified' app even means. Hopefully at that point, plus with more PWAs available, you can have the same reach with one. And if your app is PWA-only then there is only one choice, and lots of PWAs already have good traction on desktop/mobile!
