Diane Rehm is a radio journalist who was diagnosed with spasmodic dysphonia in 1998. She continued hosting her radio show until she retired in 2016 (and has been hosting a weekly podcast since 2017). She was pretty open about how she dealt with her condition over the years and how her feeling evolved. Lots to pick from, so instead of a specific link I just thought I'd mention her. I listened to her all the time while commuting on my motorcycle!

I now own a Kobo Clara BW. Here's the first thing you need to know: pick a language, connect to wifi, it will update itself. After that it will ask you to 'connect the device' which requires a Kobo account.
Instead of doing that, plug it into a computer, and when it pops up a little window, click 'Connect.'
On the computer go to the .kobo/Kobo directory on the device, and edit the file Kobo eReader.conf. In the [ApplicationPreferences] section, add a line likeSideLoadedMode=true
and save and exit the editor. Unmount the device from your computer, and hold the Clara BW's power button until the white LED flashes. Then press the power button again.
When it boots back up, you don't need to register or connect shit. Dump books on it and rock on.
I'm posting this because every single internet thing which talks about this leaves out two important facts:
1) If you edit that file before updating, or before you get to the QR code screen, it won't take.
2) Most of the online people access this mode by signing out of an existing account rather than activating it during first-run setup.

I agree that UBO+1stparty is necessary, but I don't think it's sufficient.
Cookie autodelete extension [1] has an unfortunately-named whitelist function to make exceptions for sites you want to stay logged into, and cleans up the rest of the crap.
UBO + firstparty isolate does not fix, for instance, things like websites installing service workers which write cookies in the background.

if a programmer signals that they have more to offer a company than programming, they should be fired immediately
if a programmer attempts to work more than forty hours a week, also fired
other employees should be carefully monitored to ensure they don't get infected and become programmers

the companies in question are actively hostile to copyleft. the kernel is the only copyleft project they'll accept. anything else will be rewritten under a permissive license.

Energy is observer-dependent, subject to relativistic effects, one of which is that velocity decreases as the cosmic scale increases. General Relativity has no concept of conservation of energy.
Conservation of energy generally only applies within a specific intertial frame of reference. In galactic scale, we do not share such a frame of reference. If we did, there wouldn't be any redshifting anyway.

Everything I do requires privacy on every device. This isn't negotiable.
I can use the existing tools to inject root CAs, and those stick, but browser extensions are auto-removed every night. I do what I can do, and I'm not really on the hook to explain the school district's half-ass security measures.
That, like every other objection you've raised, is a distraction from the core argument: the Browser/CA Forum cannot be trusted to act in the public interest, and anyone placing their faith there is going to get burned again and again. Any attempt to shunt control away from the user and toward the internet landlords is hostile action and must be opposed.

I disagree with your assessment of needs. Your vision makes it *that much harder* to block corporate surveillance at the router. The Browser/CA (effectively just Google at this point) forum pushes their own root of trust to make sure that there is an uninterruptible tunnel between their ad-funneling engagement factory and the consumer device.
MITM is the only reliable way to keep that crap off my kids' computers, especially now that Google has invaded schools. I can't just block Google properties at the IP level, I have to do packet inspection to figure out which connections carry legitimate educational material and which connections are for surveillance and advertising.
Every year this gets harder as they ratchet down security in the name of safety. Every year I have to explain to a larger percentage of the IT industry that it's not *our* safety they're protecting, and it won't be until there is an independent noncommercial entity in charge of the x.509 trust chain.
