@npub1q9m…zgdu Staffer. I work for Dorinda Cox. We conducted our most recent National Conference (an event for the broader membership) entirely online. Having said that, I hope our next National Conference is live. Online conferences are a little sad. As I alluded to before, I think we should focus on reforming transport, not individual efforts that are swanped by the enormous size of the industry. I always come back to the slogan, 'Electrify Everything'. If it can't be electrified, then it needs to be smaller and powered with an agricultural by-product.

@npub1q9m…zgdu That just wouldn't happen. You can't Zoom into Parliament - all of the laws reqiure a physical presence. If the MPs have to be there, then some of their staff have to be there (the ones who don't, stay in the electorate for the most part). I don't think it's useful to focus entirely on eliminating travel, although that is part of the picture. Australia needs electrified high speed rail, and for the small amount of air travel that can't be eliminated, we should encourage the use of recycled biofuels and possibly hydrogen in the future, although I am for the most part a hydrogen sceptic. #GovernmentTravel #AirTravel #SustainableTransport #auspol #biofuel #hydrogen #AustralianGreens

@npub1q9m…zgdu Australia's federal system means that we occasionally have to send people to Canberra. There's no way around it, although we minimise air travel through the use of electronic meetings. We (WA) can't even use trains any more, 'cos they shut down economy travel on the Indian Pacific. Basically, if we want to eliminate emissions from air travel, the whole transport system needs an overhaul
