Man I love Alan Thrall. Such high signal low bullshit fitness content. One of the best channels out there for newbies to get into lifting.
I avoid those “100 pushups per day till x” trends because I don’t like having tendonitis in my shoulders and elbows

It does end. We finally after about 6 or 7 failed offers end up in a nice home.
Keep in mind though we did have to essentially pay more than the appraised value of the house to get our offer accepted, which does eat into our equity a little bit.
The market is just weird right now. We could see another 2008-2009 style crash, or the money printers could just inflate prices higher and higher as soon as interest rates drop. Who fucken knows.
We bought a house that we could conceivably live in for 10 years to weather a bad market, rather than a smaller, cheaper house that we might outgrow immediately if we pop out another kid.

Been tossing the idea around of writing. Like a substack and/or some freelance writing.
Kind of in that catch 22 when I wanna change things up because I don’t have time/energy to do the things I want, but also don’t have the time/energy to effectively learn a new skill.

The wife and I moved into her parent’s basement (very nice mother-in-law suite) for a year to save up for our house. That was the “responsible” thing to do and helped accelerate our savings by almost $10k
The fiat clown world price inflation of the housing market inflated the value of any house we tried to buy by about $100k, completely wiping out any savings we had accomplished over that year of being “responsible” and saving up for a down payment.
Still lucky enough to have ended up owning a home before interest rates hiked to the moon (also result of fiat clownworld money), but man when you get punished for doing the “right” thing… that radicalizes a person.

So many people have tried these bullshit fiat diets without success and genuinely believe that it isn’t in their power to help their weight and improve their health.

I think we will find a niche where Nostr works insanely well and really takes off, but tbh I don’t think that is gonna be twitter-clone social media apps. It’s not gonna replace twitter or Facebook entirely unless those companies completely collapse from within.
But I think we build like crazy on the use cases we have so the network is strong. That way when we find the right niche, it’s really to really take over.

I think this caveat is something a lot of people on Nostr don’t get. “Better” isn’t good enough to disrupt an established network effect. That’s why railroad tracks are the same width as Roman chariot cart wheels. Network effects are that strong. They can last for 1000 years.
To upset a network effect, you typically have to be about 10x better than the thing you’re replacing.
Like telegram replacing the pony express. Learning Morse code was hard, but sending messages at the speed of light was just so next level that it upset the whole communication system.

Used to work for a guy who ran marathons for fun. He would try his best to do an outdoor run on the hottest and the coldest day of the year. Called them his “tough guy” runs.
