Technically it's too early to share this as I haven't dropped the ballot off yet, but Seattle/King County is having a special election tomorrow.
I won't tell anyone how to vote, but I will point out that the "1A" option puts a tax on millionaires and billionaires, while the "1B" option predominantly taxes people with less than a million bucks.

@nprofile…fynq I once worked for someone whose father worked at a big candy company (Brachs?) He told a story of how they'd differentiate flavoring variations in taste tests by putting different dye in them. And then they stopped doing that because people who got orange-flavored candy with purple dye would love the realistic grape flavor.

I'm coming out: I'm #linux curious.
Well, currently dual-boot with Windows 10 in particular, as I've been doing just fine with Win10 on my current machine. Microsoft is trying to shame me into updating by calling my hardware inadequate for Win11 and canceling security updates on 10.
I also am happy to avoid GenAI pollution on my operating system.
Advice? Tips? Warnings? Leaning toward Ubuntu or Mint, but that's more name recognition than research.
Edit: I'm a gamer / #gamedev, too.

Accessibility friends: I know someone who uses Linux (Ubuntu) and typing is slowly becoming impossible. A few individual button presses are doable, but touch typing is increasingly off the table.
Is there Ubuntu compatible software that's _actually good_ for speech-to-text, but also other controls of the computer? Is the speech-to-text in Google Docs a reasonable tool?
He has a Windows computer, too, if there's a really superior option, just doesn't use it much.

Does anyone out there have a favorite, kept-up-to-date robots.txt for rejecting AI scraper bots and the like? I'm certain as I move web hosts that it's time to update mine.
(And yes, I know the bots have a maddening tendency to ignore robots.txt but at least having an updated list will repulse *some* and therefore worth having)

A while back I asked if anyone had compiled sites/tools who have committed to *not* jam AI into every corner of their product.
I didn't find any, so I guess that means I'm gonna do it.
What kinds of tools would you like to use AI-free? I'll start: Word processing. I want to be able to write without interference, and create documents without being second guessed.

FFS. With WordPress potentially selling data to OpenAI, am I really going to have to hand-code my HTML pages in Notepad again?
Like, seriously. WordPress has gotten less good over the last few years in particular, and I'd prefer not to have anything to do with "AI" before getting a bunch of answers to very specific questions first. Which isn't how companies are doing it right now (thus the term "AI" to cover a million different things).
Any good, simple, just-a-page-with-images tool?
