It's actually not an article of faith for many. Eg, it's not in the historic creeds. And "word of God" has a lot of further nuance except for a bunch of over-simplistic folk. Admittedly the latter are of great concern and harmful right now.

I'm not convinced by the 'softly softly' framing. It's remarkable what can be done in a short time.
Let's not forget pandemic measures (yes, some were badly directed but it's the speed and scale we should note here) or the making of the NHS coming out of WWII.
The dead hand of austerity bound 'fiscal prudence' is already killing hope.

Worth thinking about. There's an aboriginal (I think) language where compass direction is grammatically encoded. I'm imagine at a population level this might tend to give a fillip to producing trackers, cartographers etc. Stochastic enablement.

Not to say we should give up on trying to encourage deliberation and proper conversation -quite the opposite. Let's not hark back to a non-existent golden age of rational discourse. Public conversations have always struggled against prejudice, dismissals etc. Heck; a classical education included rhetoric: =how to manipulate a crowd.
