Epic Milky Way Timelapse Failure Night 3.
Pan/Tilt motor battery died and instead of continuing on without pan/tilt - the whole thing just puked at 2am.
God dammit. I'm getting tired of that tent.

@npub1e3m…qvr5 That's a great shot! I'm working on a timelapse but my battery died before it finished.
I'm using a 15s shutter and the slider is triggering the camera. So it takes a 15 second shot, waits 16 seconds, moves a little, until it finishes.
It's totally gonna work but I need a better composition for the slider movement and an external battery.

#Astrophotography is challenging because the shutter is open for a long time collecting lots of light. That means it takes very little to illuminate a subject in the dark.
In a single shot, this can be done by light painting, but in a time lapse that lighting has to be consistent.
Here's what I'm trying. I have these 2 LED lights at 1% brightness and I'm bouncing that off a silver reflector propped up against the bush to light up the tree ahead.

Astro just takes time. All time spent under the stars is time well spent.

Another failure on the path to the epic 8k Milky Way Timelapse.
This time, we went out and set up a tent and camped out. I set up the slider at sunset and waited for night to turn it on.
The slider made it all night, but the camera battery died halfway through :(
I will not quit until this works. It will work, and all the people will go "whoah".

I went out last night to take an epic 8k time lapse of the milky way. I brought a little robot camera slider out into the wilderness and had it take pictures for a few hours.
My genius ass had the slider moving in the wrong direction though, away from the milky way.
Oh Well. Try, Try, Try Again.

I was playing with audio transcription and subtitling in #DavinciResolve beta 18.5 - on good clean dialog it's like 95% accurate.
Very useful, super stoked.

@npub1r26…ctcy It pisses me off. I don't think it's about WFH at all. I think it's just an attempt to reassume a level of control.
A lot of them didn't want people to work from home in the first place, and were forced to by covid, and now they feel weaker because the whole situation tilted the power scale.
And then they all cut huge headcount to satisfy investors, and a few years from now they'll hire anyone with a pulse.
Commuting is dumb if it's not necessary.

It was always some executive calling for a nonsensical moratorium or some other silly human-gated change control board (comprised of the least qualified people to make those decisions) that caused more harm than good.

That may be cultural.

@npub19td…fh6f Electron is a perfectly logical choice for one portable executable app. It *is* portable. That's why electron makes sense.
If the devs have to maintain 3-4-5 different codebases for different devices, that's not going to be better, it's likely going to be a fragmented mess.
But alas. Obsidian is electron. One of the best and most complete electron apps I've ever seen.
OSS is not better in every way, which is why linux on the desktop has continued to suck for 30 years.

The Lyrids meteor shower. Watch along the horizon, moving across from left to right. At 30 seconds, something incredible happens in the top right of the frame.
I'm not sure what exactly it is, but I know it's special.
