@npub1ate…d2lk At the societal level too. Society easily generates concern about a celebrity’s relationship, but finding funding for a DV shelter is difficult. People want to watch tv shows about rich people’s cribs, but aren’t that interested in the tents along our freeways. Of course there are allistic people who do care about DV shelters and the homeless, but, if funds allotted are an indicator of concern, society cares more about people who don’t really need help than people who really do.

@npub16mz…hm5n I’m retired, but I was mostly a furniture maker who sometimes did finish carpentry. I wasn’t very good at the finish carpentry part because I couldn’t get the hang of creating fine work without the benefit of a well set up workshop and lots of flat, level surfaces. Job sites seemed like chaos to me, so I preferred the solitary work of furniture making.

Hi. I'm Colin. I didn't learn I am autistic until a couple years ago, at 60. I was surprised, but only because I didn't know anything about autism. Once I learned about it, my surprise was less about *being* autistic and more about realizing that there is a name for the way I am.
Reading other people's stories on social media has helped me tremendously. I look forward to learning more here.
