My 80+ aunt & uncle in Wales effectively have no NHS GP now because it's impossible to get face to face appointments & practice often offers only online appts. They are excluded from the services they need because they cannot master the technology their GP is hiding behind. So now they have to pay for a private GP where at least they can see a doctor. Technology is not the answer: proper funding, pay & recruitment of skilled staff is the only solution.

His great-grandfather, the first Viscount Rothermere, was a huge fan of Hitler so the paper supported the Nazis and Moseley's British fascists in the 1930s. I'm not sure it has shifted much since then.

We have to hope that a large proportion of the current support for Reform is a protest vote rather than a sign of genuine far right convictions. Labour has to find a way to pull those people back from the brink of fascism, without following the Tories down the road of endless appeasement. Otherwise the next UK election could look like the current French elections.

Starmer & Reeves have repeatedly & explicitly ruled out rejoining the EU, the single market or the European customs union: these are the key features of Tory Hard Brexit.
If they want the economic benefits of better access to European trade, they need to remove customs barriers (CU) & regulatory barriers (SM). This would result in a Soft Brexit.
Labour wants Tory Hard Brexit but somehow expects to cherry-pick EU benefits ( as Johnson wanted).
No free lunches.

An excellent & under-recognised point, of course. But I think it would also help if people understood we don't have to "reverse" Brexit & rejoin EU to improve things.
Before the ref, Brexiters repeatedly assured us UK could stay in single market (= soft Brexit). So take them at their word & aim for "classic (soft) Brexit".
Still a challenge to build EU support, but less political risk for EU & more economic benefit to let UK into CU/SM at least.
Labour is stupid to rule this out.

Honestly, the whole "graduate career" escalator had already broken down for many of us when I graduated in the late 80s.
Uni-dole-manual labour-dole-temp admin-dole-trainee-junior-senior-dole-freelance-dole-freelance-dole-uni-dole-junior-dole-freelance-emigrate-senior-(retirement?)
Unless you're in a safe vocational niche (e.g.medicine), you cannot plan your "career" because careers no longer exist for millions of us. At most you can try to plan the next few years if you're lucky.
