Granted I’ve had a couple, but today September 22nd at 12 midnight I must admit this is the first time I’ve thought that Nostr is just NGMI. Engagement is terrible. Maybe it’ll grow to something different - I can certainly see that - but as a social app I just don’t see it. Signing off all 🤘🏼🤷

What are your views on the argument that in its current form Nostr actually increases centralisation and the concentration of engagement? Those with other platforms (social, IRL presence, marketing dollars) can funnel and build their Nostr network quite easily, whilst those with none of this - the average person - finds it incredibly difficult to get engagement. If the answer is it’s down to the client can just adopt a Twitter like algorithm, wouldn’t those connections just permeate into the wider Nostr community? Eg, I build a large following using a Nostr Twitter algo carbon copy, those connections are now made irrespective of what other clients are doing. My outreach has now grown significantly.

Interesting. I know that many like his style. But would you say he is your preference over Antonopoulos? Follow up question: if MS had a fraction of the notional in BTC terms, would his say be as well regarded? What new has he bought to the space.
Not being confrontational here, genuinely looking for a few good clips to change my view as I seem to be missing something (and not thru lack of trying!)

Great to see some challenges Stella, lucid, Matt. I’ll revisit that thermodynamics point but maybe as a YouTube clip (everything in proportion). Agree that we want as many varied views as possible and he certainly resonates with many. I know @npub14mc…frlx often notes that MS really brings the crowds in terms of unique listens, so as long as the passion inspires and fishhooks SOMEONE (and most importantly someone new) then I’m all for it.

Architecture like this is phenomenal. I often wonder if capitalism has reduced this beauty and faceless functionalism is the order of the day. What’s the best building made since 2000 for example?
Second, I always wish when traveling that there were things aimed at tourists but were local, high quality, and had a certain uniqueness and local importance to them. I’d be first in line.
I guess with the same concept of free market capitalism not many other people want this (or it’s less profitable) otherwise the market would have closed the gap around this need.

I must admit I’ve never been able to listen to a complete #MichaelSaylor interview/video/pod. And I’ve tried multiple times with a range of hosts and a range of mediums. Jumbled thoughts, ‘American waffle’, hyperbole. In my view a very poor communicator. Not my ambassador that’s for sure. Happy to be challenged on this too.

One thing I’ve always wondered about hardware wallets is are they valued at the cost of the technology + market + distribution etc, or is there a ‘crypto premium’ added which is reflective of the value they protect? I would have expected given the free market AND the range on offer, that they’d be considerably cheaper by now on a per unit basis.

What does the #government do more efficiently and effectively than free market commercial enterprise? This isn’t a confrontational post along the reductionist and absurd “government = bad / crap” but a genuine topic of debate. I think they SHOULD be great at setting the boundaries within which free markets can operate, running a military and public safety, setting policy to support redistribution of concentration of wealth. Possibly a few other things which are good for society but go against human nature, or require nation wide organisation. Not the inefficient red tape which is crippling productivity and producing worse outcomes, building unpayable debt, and stealing from future generations. #coffeechain thoughts

I’d differentiate skim milk. Lactose is a natural, low glycaemic sugar. Not quiet sugar water (altho I may have missed the tone of your comment) and it’s not like it’s added sugars in the same way as other low/no fats foods. Still, full fat essential for a good coffee, semi skimmed on cereal, and skimmed milk probably worth just keeping it in the cow!!

Whilst I think we should differentiate between skimmed milk and other more synthetic or artificial no fat foods, yeh I agree. I don’t think anything should be ‘banned’ but we should certainly put more emphasis on education on nutrition.

Blows my mind that house price appreciation (supposedly low risk) is ~inline with equity markets, commonly know as ‘risk assets’. When house price appreciation exceeds earnings growth at what point does a house become a toxic liability? How long until the government steps in and attempts to prop up this charade with further house-of-cards debt?

Nostr would be a cool option. On the WBD pod recently they were talking about such functionality, including a few names of some teams looking at just that. Digital only.
How about in the printed version an option to send some sats which contributes to some fund which is used to gift the book others? Academic institutions, LEDCs etc?

Never heard of an MA price for pay but like the idea. How would that be operational efficient / feasible? I would think the vast majority of people getting paid in BTC would be spot at a specific non disclosed execution time via an otc deal (the whole eligible company at once).

It will be interesting where we rate AI against other forms of life/intelligence. Will they we valued higher than insects or rodents for example, cats, dogs…? Will we only value them as ‘intelligent and valuable morally’ once paired with robotics with visual likeness to ourselves. Going one further and assuming we can download some or all of someone’s consciousness how would we compare them then?
We’re blurring some lines here over the following decades / century’s and it’s going to be nothing short of fascinating as we explore what it means to be human and what it means to be alive.

I think Nostr adoption could be significantly boosted by integration into CEX platforms as a sort of news/timeline feed. Posts from respected and consistent users would be essential, but there would also need to be users who are getting trade ideas and standard macro out there. Who can provide the content whilst I push for the integration?

So is this right. If Blackrock and others ETF launches the secondary market on GBTC will tank driving the discount, however the primary trust members will still be locked in? Admin fees can remain high although there will be a greater pressure from primary members to turn the trust into an ETF/P, and now no excuse not to turn it. Only then - when GBTC has converted from trust to ETP - will the fees start to close and the discount disappears due to supply / redemption process? By this point the only way to maintain growth for a GBTC ETF is lower fees, better marketing, or a more accurate tracker to spot. Looking to be corrected on this if I’m wrong. Ty.

One thing I don’t get is what’s the difference between blue checking and any other online paid service? Substack, Google Pay / Apple Pay, Amazon, Netflix etc. all are paid via standard fiat methods and most require phone number verification too. What am I missing on the outrage?
