or maybe if ads weren't so interruptive and creepy, then people wouldn't jump through hoops to block them? I think most people are not anti-advertising. They just don't want ads to track them (evidenced through retargeting which most people say they find creepy - one recent source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1411110/consumer-perceptions-targeted-ads-and-personalization-worldwide/) and get in the way when they are trying to do something. Unfortunately, the ad industry has their fingers in their ears about these issues.

Here’s an idea for those wanting to avoid google’s AI search results: use DuckDuckGo - which provides better results anyway in my experience. It can also be set as the default search engine on most browsers.

agree. If they were serious about this, they would commit to participate in social web working group and to moving toward full federation with the rest of the #Fediverse, instead of scoffing at anyone who raises these points.
