or maybe if ads weren't so interruptive and creepy, then people wouldn't jump through hoops to block them? I think most people are not anti-advertising. They just don't want ads to track them (evidenced through retargeting which most people say they find creepy - one recent source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1411110/consumer-perceptions-targeted-ads-and-personalization-worldwide/) and get in the way when they are trying to do something. Unfortunately, the ad industry has their fingers in their ears about these issues.
