the first two programming languages I was introduced to, roughly simultaneously, were Logo (in school) and Z80 assembly language (through a family friend). That is how I got interested in computers.
Prior to getting a home computer of my own I got one of those Radio Shack microcontroller lab kits for Christmas (the kind with all those springs you stick wires into to make different circuits), and I learned how to hand assemble its microcontroller code into hexadecimal to key into it to control blinkenlights and 7 segment displays and beepers and so forth. By the time I had an actual computer at home I had a pretty decent idea of how they worked.

So I guess the first political party in Calgary municipal government history came into being today.
Three guesses what crowd of people are involved :blobcheeky:
Anyways come next city election when the come a door-knockin' the first question I will be asking will be "are you affiliated with a party or slate of candidates" and if the answer is "yes" I will say "not interested" and close the door in there faces. If my current councillor or mayor joins somesuch party they will not have my vote.
Doesn't matter where on the ideological map the party or slate is I am Not Interested. Slates and parties are good for nothing in city government.

for the price point of the X16 there are probably some options for actual period 6502 machines worth considering. That said I understand it might not suit your interests to maintain an actual 1980s machine, and investment-focused collectors are slowly ruining the hobby.
As such I would suggest looking at what @npub1qnu…hzwk is building which is closest in spirit to the X16 and shaping up to be a superior implementation anyways. The Foenix is also a neo-retro option along the same lines: https://c256foenix.com
If you are not looking specifically for a "sixer" the Z80 based [@rc2014](https://oldbytes.space/@rc2014 ) is built around a pretty thriving community too.

I wonder if Stanley outsources some or all of their product design to an ODM. Some of those ODMs are very bad at infosec and their work gets leaked out everywhere (or whey even willingly sell slight variants of the designs they are paid to create to all comers once the job is done, which is what happened with most of Apple's computer cases in the 1980s and 1990s for example)
