I wonder if Stanley outsources some or all of their product design to an ODM. Some of those ODMs are very bad at infosec and their work gets leaked out everywhere (or whey even willingly sell slight variants of the designs they are paid to create to all comers once the job is done, which is what happened with most of Apple's computer cases in the 1980s and 1990s for example)
