Evidence shows what we suspected about #TikTok is true - it goes promote #Chinese #CCP #disinformation about #Tibet #Uyghurs and #taiwan.
We need to regulate, and, at the very least, threaten a ban. Why should #TikTok have access to users around the world while foreign platforms and media outlets have no access to #China?

I agree totally. To me it was the Greens exceeding expectations, and doing about as well as Reform (who got a LOT of coverage) who deserved more attention.

At a meetup today, two Americans mentioned how they canceled or decided not to go to #Taiwan due to fears of a #Chinese invasion taking place while they were there. 😖
(They were also completely ignorance about the situation in #Myanmar, or even that a coup has taken place so...)

I certainly don't see Labour as left either - for me it was more that the Greens exceeded expectations and got nearly as many seats as Reform.

In one week, we've now had two elections in Europe (#France and #UK) where the far-right failed to meet expectations, while the left (#NFP and #Greens) exceeded expectations.
Yet, somehow, I don't think we'll see many articles about the rise of Europe's #left in mainstream media.

Not sure why - have some theories but none yet ready for sharing in the fediverse. I do sense a general antagonism towards the media, if anything, Japanese mainstream journalists are even less trusted.

Japan's #climate #NGO sector has a lot of internal divisions and, to my surprise, I get treated with a lot of skepticism by some groups, as a #journalist.
It makes me miss the much more congenial and friendly #Indonesia climate space.

There are probably at least 50 journalists - nearly all journalists of color working in the global south - that I would rank as more deserving of being freed than #Assange.
For example,
- Huang Xueqin, a #Chinese feminist who covered #MeToo
- #Kashmiri journalist Irfan Mehraj
- #Vietnamese pro-democracy reporter Pham Doan Trang
- Saudi journalist Nazeer Al-Majed.
Why don't their cases get as much attention?
