Not news to me... (I used to work at Newcastle University.) The Counterpoint study published in 2013 demonstrated these results. It's 2024. Why so slow to implement what is known?
Reminds me of the Australian doctor who proved that ulcers were caused by bacteria rather than stress, and how slow practitioners were to pick up on this.

'Newsnight' is reporting violence in Sunderland.
Stop calling these events "protests". They are nothing of the sort.
Thugs and morons piggy-backing grieving families' tragedy. Vile doesn't cover it.
And what about the families living in the locations where this violence is taking place? What about their safety and feeling of security?
If necessary, I'd bring in the army to quell this nonsense. They must not be allowed to get away with it.
If they want change, they shd stand for election.

These things are complicated by cultural differences. For me, I saw "weird" as being used ironically, which I enjoyed what with my British sensibilities and what not, though perhaps that wasn't the intention.

I think your radar is in excellent shape Kyle, it's just the circumstances in which the world finds itself... sometimes we need to bend a little.

Context is everything. When we're talking about 'them' we know which weird we mean.
I think you're right to be careful about the use of words but the damage done by Trump and his base sadly cannot be undone by taking the high road.
People respond to shorthand. I might not have chosen "weird" but bad behaviour shd have been called out much earlier so let's not quibble now.

This has been such an awful year... Whenever it seems things just can't get worse...
I was talking to my daughter about it and she reminded me of another incident where it turned out the person responsible was mentally ill. But even so, it's a struggle to comprehend what's happened.
Anyway, I hope you had a lovely time on your trip. Do your cats sulk after you've been away? I had one that would be sullen for a fortnight after being in the cattery.

which one did you choose in the end?
I've been umming and ahhhing about getting one for ages.
Daughter and I have remained 'NOVID' using Auras, but I do hate the waste. I guess I'm worried about fit, when I know the respirators we use seem to be effective.
That said, we never use them for long; 30 minutes here and there for an appointment. I've been thinking of perhaps attending a concert (after years of being a hermit). Perhaps an elastomeric would be better for such a duration.

you seem sufficiently in touch with your feelings to work through/process these events, albeit it is 'a lot'.
I thought I'd tell you, that I was estranged from my mother for many years before her death. I often wondered how I'd feel. The Christmas two years after her death, the grief hit me like a brick. Seemed to come out of nowhere.
Just to say, sometimes things catch up with you when you least expect... take you unawares.
