Regarding Dobbs and the female vote:
When people ask about my name, I always say it's a family name because the Mignonette was my great-great-grandmother's favorite flower.
What I usually don't say is that one of the Mignons I'm named after died in childbirth.
Childbirth has always been dangerous, but Dobbs has made it worse.

Comet! I wasn't able to see it with the naked eye or even with binoculars, but thanks to everyone else saying their camera could pick it up, I got this shot.
It was frustrating to look right at that spot in the sky, know the comet was there, and not be able to see it. But it was also cool to know it's there.

I read this article with great interest about professor Rebecca Roach's inability to find the woman who was Joseph Weizenbaum's secretary at MIT in the 1960s in the department of electrical engineering when he developed the pioneering AI chatbot, ELIZA.
The secretary played an important role, but after an extensive archive and records search, Roach still couldn't find her name.
I feel like this is an "internet, do you thing" problem.

Tired of getting political calls and texts? VOTE EARLY!
Who you vote for is private in the U.S., but whether you vote is public record, and many campaigns remove you from their lists once you've voted.
Voting early won't stop *all* the messages, but it should help. So get out there and vote, and save yourself some annoyance and help campaigns focus on the people who need more encouragement!

I keep thinking about how the editors of the CMOS referred to it as "sea moss" when I was talking with them last week, and I have always spelled out the letters C M O S.

I saw the most amazing thing on a roadtrip outside Los Angeles a couple of days ago! The picture doesn't do it justice, but there were rainbow colors *inside* this cloud.
I think it's called a fire rainbow, and they're rare. I've never seen one before.
