Ever needed to programmatically rename glyphs in .fea files? Here's something I made: https://gist.github.com/justvanrossum/1f816294c55abd1e762976702b01e6b7
Disclaimer: this has been tested on all .fea test files in the fonttools test suite, but not yet on real fonts. Feedback welcome.
(I didn't expect this to be possible in under 100 lines.)

@npub1xqv…230r sounds like they are axes that belong to a glyph instead of the font? I sometimes call these glyph-local axes. The key to variable components. A single glyph having its own designspace. Although often it is an extension of the global designspace.

- Does InDesign's "superscript" feature not map to an OpenType feature? (I know the OpenType submenu, but that's far less convenient than the T² button)
- Does Word's "superscript" feature not map to an OpenType feature?
"sups" doesn't seem to be applied in either case.
