It's a difficult balance. We are not less than human, but neither are we superheroes simply by virtue of disease, disorder, or injury.

It feels like gatekeeping to me, and my brain just recoils at the opacity of it all. Reading advanced materials on biology is totally accessible to anyone with a little bit of exposure. Reading advanced mathematics is like "here are a bunch of symbols you've seen before that are probably pronounced in ways you can't imagine and don't mean what you think they do"
