The three biggest hurdles to Linux adoption:
Shitware for your shit job/games/some program you want won't run on it, if it does under wine nobody supports it (you should have seen a tech support wagie at HP when I was running one of the first open Windows 8 betas on my laptop with issues I was calling about, fun times), and wagies/normies want their windows badly.
Go on your local job board and search for Linux jobs, they're all "we want 10 years experience and a clearance".

Look, I'll say this. This anime con felt more like random etsy/Twitter nobodies selling stuff and cosplayers fishing for selfies over "that guy whipping out a 3ds to play in a corner". I saw nobody with laptops or 3dses/switches/Steam Decks in a corner this con in the few hours I was there.
That is why I only stayed a few hours and drove home to decompress.

Spending the night doing creative writing for one of my game idea settings, unwinding.
NGL, this con was fucking trash. It wasn't the fact it's a small con, but rather the entryism problem that I saw when going to anime cons in 2012 has worsened, and the dealer room seemed to be mid etsy sellers, artists, and the most mid webcomic artists shilling their comic. I was walking by stall after stall thinking who cares.
There was a seller who brought an entire fucking capsule machine setup with tokens, that was really cool though. I'm sure they might exist at bigger cons.

I really want to learn to write a DOS sound driver so I can do something like Zone 66 or PPZ8 (on the PC98) did and have multiplexed drums/similar on the PCM channel.
A lot of western gamedevs/demosceners went for "use the PCM as a codec for mod players in software" route instead, while Japan's method is more associated with arcade games and the distinct sound used in later PC-98 games.
However one western game notably did this, and it was Zone 66:
