Implementation frameworks are canned bits of design optimized for a general case. When used in a specific case, they always add complexity because they handle eventualities that will never occur in your application. Unnecessary complexity is never a good thing.
Even worse, the frameworks' architectures often dominate the application. When you look at the code, what you see is the framework with intelligent warts hanging off of it. I want the inverse of that. At the highest level, I want to see the domain of the problem and the structure of the solution to that problem. I want the implementation details so well hidden that when I look at the top level, I don't see those details.
Finally, I, at least, almost always end up banging against something I need to do that the framework can't do. Crafting a workaround is always difficult and sometimes impossible. Frameworks are closed systems, often with zero extensibility or flexibility built in.
Of course, we want to leverage code and capabilities that others have written. That doesn't mean that we need an all-encompassing framework, however. For example, I'd much rather use a small stand-alone security library than a huge framework that happens to have a security aspect.

wtf... as i just had my coffee i was bored... and wanted to test around a crazy idea using ai... further testing needed (to do it offline as most of online ais are kind of limited/censored) ... but so far this is what GROK came with(wish Grok had a longer context window , or a version for crazy ppl to really push its limits) ... so ... what i did.. i asked ai to get the "book of revelation" text, only keep first letter of each word and print it as a sequence string. then i asked ai to give me all the words it can see in the string (in sequence). after i asked ai based only on that words to make me some sentences... so far this is what i got in last step from GROK .

People tend to look at budgets the wrong way, IMO. The cost of software development per unit time (your engineering-dept. budget) is trivial to figure. Number of people * salary * load. There. You're done. You'll pay that out even if everybody sits around playing Canasta all day. So, the question is NOT what engineering it will cost; it's how best to use people's time to get the maximum benefit from that investment. Instead of a project, think in terms of what to work on. The Sun, our local star, is just under a million miles in diameter. The surface temperature is about 5,000K, and the power output is about 4E26 watts.
All that power is coming from the innermost 10% of the star -- the core -- where the temperatures are around 17E6K, and the pressure is ...um... crushing.
At those temperatures the Hydrogen atoms cannot hold onto their electrons. So protons and electrons are free to zoom about without binding. The velocities of the protons are so high, and the pressures are so great, that every once is a great while two protons will get close enough that the strong nuclear force will bind them together into Helium. This happens to about 500 metric tons of Hydrogen each second. In that reaction a lot of high energy gamma rays are released.
Those gamma rays are trapped within all those charged particles in the core. They bounce around in the core, doing a random walk for thousands of years. But eventually they reach the outer shell of the core where they can heat the Hydrogen gas outside the core.
The bouncing around of all those gamma rays creates an outward pressure that keeps the core of the Sun from collapsing under the weight of the Hydrogen above it.
The hydrogen outside the core, heated by the gamma rays escaping the core, rises to the surface of the star in a massive convection current. Upon reaching the surface, the heat of that gas is radiated at 5000K and reaches us ~8 minutes later.
This process has been going on for nearly five billion years, and will continue for another five billion or so. However...
The Helium building up in the core takes up space. This impedes the fusion reaction. Fewer gamma rays are produced, causing the core to contract. This heats the core driving the fusion rate back up, but at a slightly higher temperature.
Thus, the Sun is gradually warming. It is about 10% hotter today than when it formed, and it will continue to get hotter and hotter as the eons pass. In about 200 million years, it will be too hot for water to remain liquid on the surface of the Earth.
So, I guess we'll have to move the Earth a bit farther out.

It’s a widely held, but completely incorrect, belief that you must mimic a competitor in order to compete. Think about Stripe. They went up against PayPal with a very small API and little else. Start small with a core product that’s useful and addresses a market problem. In PayPal’s case, that problem was the overcomplexity of their APIs and the pain of programming to them—a side effect of being a big established competitor with many (too many, I’d argue) features. Stripe came along with a tiny product that did only a fraction of what PayPal did, but it addressed that single, critical, pain point.

SQL injection-like attack on LLMs with special tokens
The decision by LLM tokenizers to parse special tokens in the input string (<s>, <|endoftext|>, etc.), while convenient looking, leads to footguns at best and LLM security vulnerabilities at worst, equivalent to SQL injection attacks.
!!! User input strings are untrusted data !!!
In SQL injection you can pwn bad code with e.g. the DROP TABLE attack. In LLMs we'll get the same issue, where bad code (very easy to mess up with current Tokenizer APIs and their defaults) will parse input string's special token descriptors as actual special tokens, mess up the input representations and drive the LLM out of distribution of chat templates.
Example with the current huggingface Llama 3 tokenizer defaults:
Two unintuitive things are happening at the same time:
1. The <|begin_of_text|> token (128000) was added to the front of the sequence.
2. The <|end_of_text|> token (128001) was parsed out of our string and the special token was inserted. Our text (which could have come from a user) is now possibly messing with the token protocol and taking the LLM out of distribution with undefined outcomes.
I recommend always tokenizing with two additional flags, disabling (1) with add_special_tokens=False and (2) with split_special_tokens=True, and adding the special tokens yourself in code. Both of these options are I think a bit confusingly named. For the chat model, I think you can also use the Chat Templates apply_chat_template.
With this we get something that looks more correct, and we see that <|end_of_text|> is now treated as any other string sequence, and is broken up by the underlying BPE tokenizer as any other string would be:
TLDR imo calls to encode/decode should never handle special tokens by parsing strings, I would deprecate this functionality entirely and forever. These should only be added explicitly and programmatically by separate code paths. In tiktoken, e.g. always use encode_ordinary. In huggingface, be safer with the flags above. At the very least, be aware of the issue and always visualize your tokens and test your code. I feel like this stuff is so subtle and poorly documented that I'd expect somewhere around 50% of the code out there to have bugs related to this issue right now.
Even ChatGPT does something weird here. At best it just deletes the tokens, at worst this is confusing the LLM in an undefined way, I don't really know happens under the hood, but ChatGPT can't repeat the string "<|endoftext|>" back to me:
