Newark airport is in some of the busiest airspace in the country. Being an ATC there is considered one of the most stressful jobs you could have if everything is working perfectly. Most people in first world countries don't experience the kind of extreme stress an equipment outage can cause these people. I think they deserve a couple of days off after a situation like this.

Good news. This works great and you already have the software necessary to do it: ssh. It supports signing in with a key instead of a password. Not sure if it works with Bitcoin keys, but it's better to use a separate key anyway. You don't want a compromise of your server to also cost you your life savings.

Maybe bin them by last seen, then check more recent bins more frequently. This ensures that people that are only on a couple times a week get almost the same priority as those who are on daily.
What happens if you follow 2k people who post all the time? What about 10k? Damas won't have this problem, but what about specialized clients that follow 100k+?

Because most phones are controlled by the OS company (Apple or Google) and not their owner, it is generally not safe to store sensitive information on them or even carry them with you. Wiping disks before a ddos is pretty weird. Usually, a ddos is just someone being a dick or someone trying to extort you. You are either dealing with two attackers or someone who's motivation is to put you out of business. Two attackers is unlikely. That just leaves putting you out of business. Suspects would be competitors, governments and NGOs. It will take serious infrastructure and expertise to deal with a threat like that. Hopefully I'm wrong, and it's just some asshole kid who will get bored with you in a few days.

I think algorithm development will become more important for humans.
I'd also be interesting in seeing security audits of AI generated code. I suspect AI is terrible at security. If so, this could be a major area for humans to focus on. Eventually, AI models built from more curated code may take this over, too.
UI design will probably always be best when done by humans, but AI can probably assist alot.

Yeh, guess a power outage probably wouldn't shut down a laptop.
Try holding <tab> at power on to get to the Grub menu. If that works, you can hit <e> to edit your boot settings.
There is a line that starts with 'linux' followed by some options. Add a space and "pci_aspm=off" to the end of that line, then press <F10> or <ctrl>+<X> to boot. If that doesn't help, try again with "pci=noaer"
If you get into the menu, but neither of those help, try going to "advanced options" then selecting an older kernel version or the recovery mode, if you're comfortable on the command line.
This can be caused by a bad upupdate, so if you system boots, go ahead and install any pending updates.

All of those crazy 'features' were a substitute for the fact that those phones could only make calls, txt and run snake. There are still a few companies out there innovating in the phone space, just not the big names.
Personally, I still miss the old cell phones, but if we're going to get all nostalgic, then call my land line. If I'm not there, just leave a message on the answering machine and I'll get back to you when it's convenient.

One thing that used to be common and is more fair is owner financing. You buy the house and pay the previous owner as if it were a mortgage. It's not very common now because most people need to get the full price for the house to pay off their mortgage.

To me, this just seems like a way to take advantage of people. What if you pay you house payment every month for years, then get laid off. You can't make the payment and get evicted. If you had taken a mortgate, you could sell the house and recover your equity. If you're doing rent-to-own, you're out on the street with nothing. Companies that do this with appliances actually try to get people to default because they can go rent the appliance to someone else. It's a little like a bait-and-switch.

You didn't specify the term (length) of the mortgage or the interest. This is important because it effects amortization rates. For example, if you take out that ammount for 30 years at 6% (common in the U.S. right now) you will make over $215k in payments (excluding taxes and insurance), but only have $50k in equity. If you sell your house, you end up with the same $50k as the bitcoin holder. Whether you come out ahead on the deal will depend on the rent paid by the hodlr, as well as local taxes and insurance.
The real error here is assuming Bitcoin will only 5x in 10 years. Hitting $250k by the end of next year is my base case for BItcoin. There are a number of positive headwinds that could push it much higher. In 10 years, I will be verry supprised if it's less than $1,000,000. Of course, I also be supprised if your house was still worth $300k.

Anyone who understood Bitcoin back then was doing whatever it took to get their hands on it. People had hundreds of GPUs mining in their garages. There was a guy running a drop ship company at cost just to convert USD to BTC. It's also why there were so many rug pulls and hacks. Welcome to the wonderful world of public key cryptography. Your Nostr account is made of a mathematically related pair of very big numbers called a public key and a private key.
