This Alby thing has me bummed. That chat in liveItem is vestigial from when I was initially expirementing with liveItem and trying to implement a chat room experience. I kept it in there because others had started implementing it , and I didn't want to break any of their apps, but I think podcast:chat (which is apparently also still an unofficial tag) is probably going to be the preferred way for chat.

If none of you have tried messing with your own node, then I encourage you to sign up at voltage.io and get a $12 a month node. Yep, it's going to cost you $12 a month. Then you have to fund it and balance the channels.
Try doing that, and I think you might appreciate more what exactly Alby is dealing with and be more supportive of what ever direction they decide to go.

So, in playlist mode, the idea is you build your playlist, and it just goes from one block to the next automatically, so the default block is just for you to get your portion of the Value Time Split, not to broadcast that block. If you want to broadcast that block during a talking segment, you'll have to add it as another block in the list and give it a long duration, then when you're ready to play the next song, click the broadcast button for that song.

If I'm understanding correctly, this would be connecting your node to Alby, then using the WebLN API? Because browsers require a plug-in, mobile websites become a sticky issue without the WebLN. I'd prefer WebLN, but end up using the oauth sign-in method because 80-90% of users are mobile.

For playing in an app, right now, CurioCaster, TSK, and Podcast Guru support Live Value Splits.
As long as you're able to manually put <podcast:liveValue uri="https://curiohoster.com/event?event_id=6ef10222-af2a-48eb-beda-45c61f80ea4d" protocol="socket.io"/> into your feed, then you can use any host you want. SF is the only one that's surfacing it "easily" though.

If you get an empty object, then you should default to whatever the value block and image is from the feed. That's how I was letting the apps know that a particular block has ended and to fallback to the feed.

In that case, create a person or chapter block, make the Title the name of your podcast and link to your podcast image for the artwork. Next, edit the value block to the one you're going to put in your podcast and save your block. Once your podcast is published, you can go back an change your default to your podcast.

I checked out Breez SDK kit, and it doesn't work for PWAs. I've considered developing for Android/iOS, because it would reach a larger audience, but I really like the idea of a PWA, one because I'm a weirdo and I like coding in Javascript, and two, because I don't like being beholden to the app stores, though it does limit my reach. When ever I tell someone I'm developing an app, they tell me they can't find it in the app store, so I know that's where most people go, I just wish it wasn't so.

It's a kludge, and it's dirty, but you can see the newest releases. They don't auto update, so it's only from when I last ran my script, but it's something. I'll try to get something automated eventually, but this is something to get you started.
It's a lot of data, so takes a second to load when you first click the button, but hopefully it helps with finding some new songs.

Since you're using Buzzsprout, I'm not sure if they show you your episode guid prior to publishing. If not, you'll need to publish first, the look at your feed to get the guid for your episode, then change your chapter url to match, then republish.
Hopefully the hosting companies make finding your episode guid easy prior to publishing.

There's a podcaster wallet shim https://podcasterwallet.com/ that a podcaster can use to insert a value block into the Podcast Index if their provider doesn't surface the ability to insert it directly in the feed.
It's suppose to be temporary until more hosts onboard putting the value block in a podcaster's feed. The idea it demonstrate what is possible, and then the host build once they understood the value of it.
I suspect the manual medium curation is the same idea.

Pragmatically, hand curating feeds to add the medium tag makes sense, especially if we're trying to build the music collection in the index.
Principally, we believe the feed is the source of truth or we don't. If we shim in tags and wallets for podcasters, we remove the incentive to find a better podcast host.
We're manipulating the free market by shimming in tags rather than incentivizing the hosts to provide superior features through the loss/gain of customers.

Here's an idea I'm pondering:
Remote item personal identity feeds.
It's decentralized because it's your feed which you can host anywhere. Because it's your url, you've already established ownership.
It can also have a guid, and once the guid is assigned to you, it's yours forever.
There can also be a directory for looking up different people, just like we're doing with podcasts.
Inside each feed is everything you would need for the value tag and person tag for that person.

I want Wavlake to be a success, but only if they're willing to play along with everyone instead of riding the coat-tails of what we're building with RSS v4v music and creating this hybrid walled garden they've been building.
I don't think it's what's best for the musicians at this point, but it's up to the musicians and listeners to decide what value system they support.
As for me and my house, we support interop and ANY music feed or LN address is welcome.

1/8th of the music feeds are non Wavlake. It was 1/9th a few weeks ago, and 1/10th a month ago. It's a good trend.
We'll just have to keep building and educating, which will either force Wavlake to adapt or make them insignificant in the space.
Hopefully musicians are the Independent lot I've always known them to be and will choose wisely.
They're also playing with fire with the iOS app, Nostr integration, and calling the boosts zaps. Apple already spoke w/ Damus.

It depends. If the artist is choosing to host their music on Wavlake, then a boost from LNBeats goes to the Wavlake wallet because that's what's in the feed. However, there are several artist that are self hosting their music, and the boost would go to the splits as defined in their value split.
RSS Blue also has a few music feeds with the ability to define the splits.
LNBeats shows any music feed in the Index, not just Wavlake feeds.

Is it possible to jiggle the handle for any feed that has Music Side Project Studio as the generator. I auto generated some podcast:guids and item guids and had several people update their feeds, but now there's duplicate items in the Index that aren't in the feed.

Since this caused problems in a bunch of different apps, I went ahead and added some more stringent episode guid checks. You'll now get a pop up warning if there's a duplicate guid, and you won't be able to publish or download your feed until the guids are unique.
