I’ve been all in thanks to the @nprofile…e9k5 bill pay and it has been working out great. I no longer have to worry about keeping fiat for bills and can have it all in bitcoin.
If there are taxes, then that means I came out ahead. However, removing taxes on bitcoin would be incredible and it will happen at some point in the future.

It is guaranteed lost if I go with the traditional bank and need to sell it. In fact, the back laughed at me when I showed them a screenshot of some of my bitcoin when they needed to verify funds. I said that this was it. And they said that they can’t count it until it is in a bank account as dollars.
Going with a bitcoin backed mortgage would at least keep the bitcoin as bitcoin.
The idea being that as bitcoin goes up substantially in value you could decide at that point to sell off a smaller portion to pay off the mortgage or keep paying the interest rates that should continue to go down as the collateral value increases over time. Kind of like an adjustable rate mortgage but where interest rates drop as the collateral value increases.
At least that’s my understanding.
I’m only willing to play the fiat game because that is the game we’ve been handed. I might as well use their corrupt system to my advantage since it is their system that caused the cost of home construction to go up so much in the first place.

I’m excited to see what mortgage products People’s Reserve (https://www.peoplesreserve.com) offers. Supposedly rates here will be closer to what banks offer since it is a mortgage product but then you can add more bitcoin collateral to reduce interest rate too

Yeah, unfortunately, it seems like a lot of the world is experiencing the same thing! I truly think that a lot of these problems are the long term consequences of a lack of a sound money.
I got into bitcoin initially for the NGU technology (like many of us do) to increase fiat wealth, but stuck around for the sound economics that it exposes. The more I learn, the more I realize that the world will be much better off with a money that is immune from government printing and manipulation.
Maybe we can return the world to what it should be. Where our time isn’t stolen from us and where things are affordable once again.

It will be really cool if the US bitcoin is moved to an address that anyone with a node can verify. The difference in accountability between that and gold would be night and day and enlightening for many people not already in the bitcoin space.

Just installed it. Available on Community Registry. Super easy to install and use (only tried it on LAN). However, it is a very old version. 5.1.0, which was released in Sept 2022. Packaged for Start9 in Dec 2022.
No further updates for Start9 since then. Most recent cryptpad released on Dec 17, 2024. Hopefully someone will take up the reins and update the Start9 package.

A couple years ago I was doing both but then the bitcoin outperformed and will continue to outperform the 529 so much that it doesn’t make sense to fund it any longer.
I might consider doing a bitcoin ETF if that was an option in it, but my 529 was with Vanguard. They are very anti-bitcoin.

Thanks! We have some cousin’s kids that are using Classical Conversations and I didn’t really like (or maybe understand) the amount of just rote memorization! However, I talked to another family who said that when they traveled to Boston to learn about Revolutionary War, it was amazing to see the memorization work as the kids started connecting everything that they had memorized. He said it was really cool to see.
So if we go that route, we’d probably do the memorization but also try to incorporate it into life experiences early on too.
We are going to a convention on homeschooling in May to hopefully learn more about all of this

You can feel better spending it rather than saving it because the fiat currency is doing down in value the longer you hold on to it.
Also, if in a form of physical cash, you can burn them for heat. Unlike bitcoin mining heaters where the generation of heat is actually getting you bitcoin.
