If I were to self-host I’d definitely look for a lightweight implementation but you’re already running mastodon…
Is it mostly an experiment? As a user why would I sign up on one instance vs the other?
By the way, congrats for launching! I am genuinely curious and I hope my message doesn’t sound too critical

@npub1fza…qg7t sad but not too surprising…. that CPU is really underpowered for today’s standards.
For comparison, GoToSocial docs say a Raspberry Pi Zero W is too slow while it works on a RPI Zero W 2 https://docs.gotosocial.org/getting_started/
I wouldn’t expect Alpine to solve the issue but it could be worth a try, “for science” :)

@npub1t7d…pqpp I’m not sure I understand the relationship between Mastodon and Lemmy.
On the one hand they are both based on ActivityPub. On the other hand I see that you gave an account here and an account on Lemmy. Are they linked? Is this the same post I see in the Lemmy link or did you copy and paste it here?

I’m rewriting in #Rust a Python tool to collect data from my solar inverter.
Albeit I’m not done yet, here are some initial stats.
Docker image size:
Python: ~350MB (this can be optimised)
Rust: ~7MB (Just my binary FROM scratch)
Memory footprint:
Python: 30MB
Rust: 500KB
