We're excited to share that INVISV's Multi-Party Relay is now available in Vivaldi Privacy Guard, a new privacy service in Vivaldi's browser. Today this service has launched as a free trial, available in the latest Vivaldi Browser snapshot release.

Recently Microsoft and OpenAI announced that they caught state-level adversaries using their AI tools to generate attack code and the like. Bruce characterized this as Microsoft spying on its users. 1/

@npub1wcu…9j6s @npub15yp…j00n Not sure where I made any assumption. Maybe you're conflating the various comments in this thread. Yes, it will probably be opt-in, for one person. Does that mean that if there are 20 people invited to a meeting, if any one person opts in, then the others have implicitly consented to being recorded? I imagine, yes, that's how it'll work because that's already how recording works in most organizations, as there's just a blanket assumption (and/or notification in some services) that everything is being recorded on behalf of someone.

If you’re late to a meeting, Google will be able to show you a mid-meeting summary so that you can catch up on what happened. During the call, you’ll be able to talk privately with a Google chatbot to go over details you might have missed. And when the meeting is over, you can save the summary to Docs and come back to it after the fact; it can even include video clips of important moments."

Finally got around to writing up a few thoughts on securing what we're calling "data in motion".
Some takeaways:
* We all know how to deploy techniques for basic confidentiality (e.g. authenticated encryption, encryption at rest, etc.) and there are best practices that need to be followed.
* What has changed in the last few years is everything is in the cloud, and our mental models for risk, and for what security/privacy mean in that context, haven't changed to catch up. Cloud providers are a huge breach risk.
* We should aim for systems that provide on-prem levels of breach risk, but with the benefits of the cloud.
* That means in addition to securing data at rest, and securing compute using enclaves or other techniques, we should secure data in motion through decoupling.

For today's #FruitFriday let's talk about Surinam Cherry (Eugenia uniflora). A distant Guava relative, Surinam Cherries are a tasty treat about the size of a temperate Cherry but with a distinct range of flavors. As a mostly-wild species, there are only a few cultivars in circulation, but the best among them are significantly better than the best temperate Cherry, with a complex intensely sweet and tangy flavor. The fruits are very delicate and typically have little ridges on them, making them difficult to ship.
Surinam Cherries are native to South America and grow well in subtropical and tropical climates around the world. The plant grows as a bush or small tree. They are fast to produce fruit and can often fruit multiple times a year.

For today's #FruitFriday let's talk about Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus). Jackfruit is the largest fruit in the world, some weighing as much as an fully grown adult person, and it can be tasty and nutritious, with sweet pulp/flesh (or savory when underripe) and seeds that can be eaten when cooked.
Jackfruit is native to Southern India and now is grown across the tropics globally and increasingly can be grown in subtropical regions. It is one of the most productive trees by yield. Like Jaboticaba, which we talked about a few weeks back, Jackfruit is typically cauliflorous, with the giant fruits growing straight from the trunk. (This probably helps the tree support the massive fruits.)
Jackfruit is a close relative of Breadfruit and Breadnut, which are both productive and nutritious tropical fruit trees, and a distant relative of Fig and Mulberry.

For today's #FruitFriday let's talk about Tree Tomato (Solanum betaceum). These short-lived perennials are close relatives to common tomatoes, with fruit like medium-sized tomatoes. They can easily be started from seed and produce fruit within 6 months in the right climate.
They grow like small woody trees with enormous leaves that smell like popcorn when rubbed. In mild subtropical climates and the highland tropical climates of South America where they are native to, they can produce fruit year round for a number of years.

The debate about moderation approaches taken by Mastodon vs. Bluesky appears in part about where the locus of moderation control resides. Bluesky places the burden and choice almost entirely in the hands of the user whereas Mastodon does it at many levels -- the user, the instance, and (implicitly) the federated sub-network of connected instances. In this the flexibility of Mastodon's approach is nice, though it would be even better if a broader set of moderation tools (including the ability to publish and subscribe to moderation feeds) were available here, as we wrote in one of our papers:

For today's #[0] let's talk about Ice Cream Bean (Inga spp.). These are trees in the bean family that can grow extremely fast in the right conditions, fixing nitrogen just like other beans. They produce pods that vary in size from the size of your hand to the size of your arm, depending on the species. When ripe the pods drop and/or split open revealing fluffy, mildly sweet white pulp surrounding hard seeds. (The seeds of only a few Inga species can be cooked and eaten like beans.)
Ice Cream Beans are native to the tropical and subtropical Americas and grow well in a wide range of frost-free conditions elsewhere in the world. They are good pioneer tree species that can grow fast in poor soils after a fire (or, in places like Hawaii, directly in cracks of cooled lava). Their leaf drop is nitrogen rich thanks to their N-fixation ability, helping build soil around them.

#[0] Only a small part of it -- the universities control pending patents for PGPP because it came out of research -- though I'm not sure that is the barrier to adoption right now. Our next step is getting iOS support, which we're talking with Apple about (and would like to show them there's interest in it, which we think there is given the number of articles we've seen on it).
