I need to start buying solar panels, and storage batteries. Even if I start with a single panel, and gradually start adding to it, within a few years I'll be mostly self-sufficient for electricity.
Alongside that, I need to learn more about permaculture, and start putting my large rear garden to productive use.
Current plan is to build a smallish poly-tunnel, to greatly extend the time frame during which I can grow things.

If I asked you what mech hanger your bike uses, would you know what I'm talking about? If so, would you know the EXACT model of mech hanger? And would you know where to get it from? And do you have a spare *right now*?

Woohoo! Postie delivered my new spiked winter tyres.
Been warned that they're noisy and probably slower than my usual tyres, but that's a price I'm willing to pay for still being able to cycle ungritted rural lanes in the depth of winter

I don't understand why some people rave about Komoot. The routing is (in my experience) poor, and the interface is clunky.

Sportives are money-making circuses. For example, to enter the Dartmoor Classic for 2024 (early-bird prices!) is £60 for a ride of just over 60 miles.
I did a similar distance Audax and that cost me £8!
On a sportive, you're mixing with a lot of pretentious types (I've a story about that in a bit) while on an Audax, you get to speak with many genuinely nice and supportive people. Seriously, the Audax crowd is so much nicer!
