During my regular scroll through AliExpress in search of my graphic designs being used and sold by others, I stumbled upon what you see down below: these are all my original works, taken from POD platforms I use (like #Redbubble or #Teepublic) and sold as if it were no big deal.🤔
❓ Even though they say when someone steal a work from you is the highest form of flattery, it still leaves me perplexed and I can’t help but wonder:
how is it that if I even accidentally use a hashtag that might reference a brand or some other product, my work gets removed instantly, with a ban on re-uploading it, while others can take and sell my designs without any action from these POD platforms to protect their artists?
 Before someone chimes in with the usual, "But they do all the work, and you're just a guest in their house!" as I’ve heard many times before, let me clarify: POD platforms handle production and shipping. That’s it. Everything else—the ideas, the designs, the marketing—is done by the artist (and yes, I cringe at using the word artist, but it’s the term they themselves use to describe the people who work through their service, which, by the way, isn’t free—they make their fair share, as they should).
It’s frustrating to see such a double standard when it comes to protecting creators’ rights.

It didn’t even last 24 hours online this parody logo on a t-shirt got the boot, courtesy of the Nike Police. TeePublic pulled it down, and sure, I get it, but I’m still gonna gripe about it.

Let’s be real: this wasn’t counterfeit merch.
It wasn’t trying to pass as performance gear or some edgy streetwear.
It was just a playful dig at pop culture and social media.
Obviously, without Nike, the joke doesn’t land. That’s the whole point—parody in a nutshell.
Here’s the irony: I don’t think a design like "LIKE" is causing Nike any real financial or brand damage.
If anything, showing a little sense of humor might’ve been a win for them, a 💵 💵 💵 💵 company acting a bit more human?
But nah, instead we get this: some software or bot combs the web for images vaguely resembling their logo (thanks to all of us training those AI systems for years, right?), flags it, and passes it on to the lowest-ranking lawyer in one of Nike’s endless law firms.
That lawyer shoots off a takedown notice to TeePublic, and boom—your shop page is gone.
That’s the end of "LIKE," the fun, and a bit of extra cash from a cheeky idea.
All perfectly legal, no question.
But yeah, I’m still annoyed.
My faith in the right to parody is seriously on the ropes, not that it matters much in this case, it’s a European concept anyway, and TeePublic’s an American company.
And the grind goes on.

As for the ostrich in the logo, some months ago, I designed this logo for nostr protocol and we made it available on GitHub because we thought it needed a cohesive image for the movement to make it recognizable. I don't understand the aversion to the ostrich, which remains an adorable mascot symbolizing resilience and persistance plus it has enormous eggs.

Short sad story.

These three arrows on a red field also known as the Anti-Fascist Circle, is the logo of the Iron Front (in German: Eiserne Front), a movement founded in Germany by the Social Democrats and the Workers' Party in 1931 to fight against the rise of Nazis (SPOILER: they didn't make it)
The logo was designed by Sergei Stepanovich Chakhotin, a Russian born in Istanbul who, after graduating in medicine, first became Ivan Pavlov's assistant (yes, the one of the dogs that drool in response to a specific stimulus) and then studied the psychology of Nazi propaganda analyzing the mechanisms of grip on the people and trying, at the same time, to warn the Germans about what was happening but his warnings remained unheeded.
Later he collected the results of this research in the book with the delicate title that leaves nothing to the imagination: "The rape of the masses".
The Story of Sergei Stepanovich Chakhotin deserves a Netflix documentary.

I published this artwork which is the parody of a joke that Zerocalcare uses in his comics by writing it around the Nirvana smile which however becomes the cone of the Sammontana logo never mentioning Nirvana or Zerocalcare or Sammontana and the smile is an icecream now.
Redbubble took my work down for copyright infringement but tells me that if I think it's a mistake or a parody I can fill out a dispute form, I do so and I reply that Redbubble "is unable to provide individual advice or give personal opinions on copyright, trademark, publicity rights or other intellectual property matters” and are very sorry in any case. I wonder why a graphic that doesn't mention Nirvana and doesn't want to pass as a Nirvana merchandise can't be sold and why Redbubble asks me to demonstrate something that is useless for the reintegration of online work because they don't defend own artists also those of the "premium" range.
Any thoughts?

I posted this drawing on a POD service and it was promptly removed due to the rights holders of the band whose logo was warped into a parody of a famous Italian ice cream company logo and a joke from a popular animated series, sent a report.
I contested this procedure waving the right of parody and the fact that the band was never mentioned in the drawing as in this post.
We'll see...
