Last week I installed a Bluesky Personal Data Server on a VPS and made an account.
Having a PDS on Bluesky gave me a different domain for my handle than the default, but you can do that anyways without a PDS.
Unlike having a Mastodon server, a PDS on Bluesky has no rules, no moderation, no trends, no space for community to happen. It felt like I was hosting a black box on my own server for no reason.
So I deleted my account and also the PDS.

I am currently reading Being Numerous: Essays on Non-Fascist Life by Natasha Lennard.
So far in the first essay, "We, Anti-Fascists," Lennard uses for framing that time when neo-Nazi Richard Spencer got punched in the face on camera. Lennard recalls how her expectations contrasted with the reactions of various elements of the anti-Trump "resistance."

I am convinced that the automobile industry is a lynch pin in the whole capitalist machine.

Drivers regularly block the sidewalk while turning or exiting, even though they're seated in heated vehicles and I'm in the cold. Why am I the one waiting?
Drivers are constantly encroaching on pedestrian time in intersections, cutting it close making turns right behind me while I have the walk signal.
Not to mention all the noise, the cities destroyed for roads and parking lots, the deaths and injuries caused by collisions, the drunk drivers.

The sidewalks that get walked on a bunch before they're plowed, they all remain bumpy, sometimes for the entire winter.
It makes it extremely difficult for wheelchair users to navigate their own neighbourhoods.
Meanwhile drivers don't even slow down for puddles in winter. It should be unacceptable to splash pedestrians with a vehicle but it happens all the time.

To get to work today I had to walk through knee-deep snow on sidewalks that hadn't been plowed, on a major road close to schools and shopping.
It was uneven and difficult to walk on with 30+ cm bumps.
The road's surface was bare, of course.
Why aren't sidewalks cleared with the same priority as roads? Because the car-free are second-class, car culture dominates.
It should be equal rights for all road users, and some people cannot drive or refuse to. I hate cars so much.

It's been great so far, and because it's a web application it can generate new feeds based on filters and tags and share the feeds as HTML or RSS! Pretty cool!

I wear a backpack, because I don't drive a car. Every single time I go to a CT they ask me to store my bag behind their counter.
It's my bag, everything in there is important to me. They don't have lockers or even a ticket system. How do I know they won't steal something, or give it to the wrong person?
CT is on my personal boycott list.

Happy Buy Nothing Day! Today I had to work, but for #buynothingday 20 years ago my friends and I did an NVDA at a local mall. We set up a free store in the mall's food court, we each had a box of toys, accessories, books etc. to give away for free.
We wore Santa hats and some of us distributed a single-page comic we made advocating to make this year a "Buy Nothing Christmas", also the text of a banner dropped from the mall roof.
We got kicked out, one of us got assaulted by a security guard.

Just because a government agent says something doesn't make it the law. Sometimes even acts of parliament are found by courts to be unlawful.
Of course Valve does not get all the blame for this situation, but acquiescing quietly to undemocratic demands deserves some shame.

They are occupied by a militaristic settler colonial ethno-state that is backed by imperial powers USA, UK, and others.

There are so many great posts that I want to boost but don't because of images with no alt text.
It takes a little extra time but can make a world of difference to someone else.
Alt text is an accessibility issue. Imagine if some posts on your feed were just nothing, an absence, and from replies you know that others can see something that maybe you figure out from context.

There's still so much to figure out. My goals are to have some online resources going by the end of the month, and a first meeting of LOAF within two months, probably early in the new year.

Maybe I'm prematurely raising alarm bells. I hope that's the case, but I don't want to wait to find out.
Palestinian liberation and resisting fascism are the same fight. No one is free until everyone is free. London Organizing Agaist Fascism's first home will probably be here on freefree.ps.

- always learn more about resisting fascism.
- set up groupware somewhere (Nextcloud, a wiki, maybe a CRM).
- find partners: at least a few other locals who will be very involved, can complete tasks between meetings.
- organize demonstrations in support of increased immigration.
- reach out to communities of people vulnerable to fascism.
- keep asking "who else should we talk to? can you help us talk to them?"
- first spokescouncil or assembly or AGM by the end of 2025.

Here is my tatreez progress, I finally finished a piece. This is basically the Bateekh / Watermelon / بطيخ motif but I only used two colours because I'm a beginner.

Twenty-three years ago today I made the front page of the city section of the local paper for organizing a protest that was vastly outnumbered by police. It was only a few weeks after 9/11.
There were a few moments during that weekend when I really thought the police were finally going to beat us all up, but the moment in this cropped photo is not actually one of them.

We are making a #tatreez design that will incorporate motifs and patterns from Gaza selected by Haneen. I will embroider the design on to a t-shirt, then we will sell a silkscreen version of the t-shirt.
The plan is still a little fuzzy, but I need to learn tatreez in a hurry! 1/3

Who are we as comfortable westerners to judge how an occupied person or population resists occupation and oppression? Has there ever been a successful liberation movement that did not involve armed struggle?
The way he died completely overturned the media narrative. On the front lines, in uniform, attacking the enemy, not hiding in tunnels surrounded by hostages.

Mahasen al-Khateeb has been killed by Israel in an air strike on #Jabalia. She was a digital illustrator who drew the #genocide happening around her. Her last drawing was of Shaban al-Dalu, also killed by Israel.
