If you want to go #Linux, Thinkpads are the Gold standart. You don't need to reinvent the wheel and get something fancy. I sold my #Tuxedo last week after a year of usage as it works best only with their TuxedoOS, a customized Version of Ubuntu. They even created their own mirrors, updates are always behind.
By going full Linux, they over-linuxed and came out the yet-another-half-bakes-distro end and laptop hardware that fails to go into hibernate with any other OS. One year I tried to fix this. No more, back on the old ThinkPad.

I don't see the argument against larger op returns because nobody will track down small miners / pools to have their custom block mined being particularly strong as this is what happens already. Centralization in that regard is the current status quo, whoever wants crazy blocks mined can do it with our without opreturns changes.
I could turn the argument around saying that larger op returns would make those custom blocks unnecessary because the goal to host data on the blockchain can be achieved now without such manipulation.
But then again, as stated by gmaxwell, there are interest groups who just like to have a block for themselves printing MARA in the mempool.space thumbnail and whatnot and they will AND CAN do it no matter the op return field.
How does a larger op return field change that in any way?

I support it. Bitcoin needs use cases. Runes and ordinals will see another surge and then wither away like all shitcoins do. It will not be an open end onslaught on mempools from here on out, the gambling and narrative cycles come and go and people wise up. Or they won't, what do I care. I have the choice to not use Core anymore and to not offer my nodes resources for this.
Yet I will because SSD and RAM space got cheap and this isn't 2018 anymore. This ain't a blocksize war, it's a RAMsize war. Miners can include or ignore any TX they wish, it's fair game on that front too. Miners, what kind of animal are they anyways?
I like to believe, naively, that rich miners will hold on to their corn for longer and are more resilient to downside price manipulation, shutting off rigs doesn't need to happen anymore. More use cases for bitcoin are good at this point because it's primary use case has not come to fruition while the world keeps changing. On-chain transactions clearly cannot be the baselayer of a new global monetary system built outside of governments control, you will never be able to buy groceries in the store with an on-chain TX. Yes yes, good luck with your Bitaxe, 'somebody has to win the lottery', it's cool but you're not buying and using it because you are politically forced to do so, it doesn't do you any good but education, entertainment, hot air and dreams (those are all good things btw). My point is, if you can afford a toy like this, you have the resources to open lighting channels when the mempool is buzzing again.
Quality has value. Bitcoin is the strongest and most secure network humans ever made and it costs energy and/or time and/or money to run and also to use it. There are lightning node banks and there will be more that charge you a little lovely fee to use their service, some for you to be no-kyc and you will be happy.
You want to be your own Swiss bank today? Buy bitcoin, run a full-node. You want to be a bank FOR Others tomorrow? Spin up a lightning node.
Bitcoin won't be 'captured', it just grows another head like a hydra and don't forget that the EU indeed is swinging at it right now, they want to restrict billions of people from using it at all.
If on-chain and a self-custody lightning node is too expensive for you, go ahead, run a cashu mint, feel very sovereign... As long as you don't run your own power plant don't pretend you're in control here anyways. Work with what you got and do it well, explore new avenues, stay on your toes. Always secure yourself first, then keep going and help others.

I figured that it is related to MiCA and so forth but why is there no warning and no explanation coming from Strike. Locking down someone's bank & bitcoin account is a serious matter and can't happen out of the blue like this. My client is transacting serious amounts of fiat and bitcoin with Strike.

Hi @nprofile…5cfd, I have a client who is buying his bitcoins, yes, plural, through Strike on my recommendation here in Germany.
Strike has just closed his account and demands bank activity details for the last 90 days. How does this happen and why? My client is fully kyced with you already.
Strike has in the past imposed a limit on his buys, 50.000€ a week which, seemingly unnecessary and demanded more information about his income and so forth.
If this keeps happening, he will simply take his business somewhere else and I don't know what to say. I also can't recommend Strike anymore to high volume clients if this is their experience. What can we do here?

On Amethyst you first have to set your inbound gif-relay. Just pull any in/out gifrelay list off git and ping them, pick the best, go into root folder of your android, set the corresponding variable gifsearch=true, allow Amethyst to connect to your phones local gif server at 127.0.0.1 which you certainly have set up already and you're all set!
