We need to develop a system of parent and child keys on #Nostr that can be managed by an admin key. This admin key could potentially utilize multi-signature functionality for added security.
This system would serve two important purposes:
1. It would eliminate the need to create a new npub (public key) in case of a compromised key.
2. It would be particularly beneficial for businesses, especially those that outsource their social media management.
Many businesses hire external individuals or agencies to manage their social media accounts. If any of these individuals compromise the key, either accidentally or intentionally, or attempt to retaliate against their former employer (which has been known to happen), the admin key or keys could lock the child keys of those employees when they no longer require access to the account.
It's unreasonable for businesses to have to navigate this vulnerability when the consequence of failure is having to start a new npub. A hierarchical key system would provide a much-needed solution to this problem.

My views align with PG and modern security standards regarding obtaining apps from F-Droid. I don't recommend getting apps from F-Droid unless it's the only option.
If F-Droid must be used, F-Droid Basic is the preferred choice. F-Droid Basic supports automatic background updates without privileged extension or root and has a reduced feature set, limiting the attack surface.
Third-party F-Droid clients can have numerous issues, such as lacking proper mirroring support. For this reason, I recommend avoiding Neo Store and no longer suggest using any third-party clients for F-Droid repositories.

Not sure specifically what kind of scams your parents are experiencing, but there are a ton of resources on the subject. If they're dealing with telephone scammers, then Scammer Payback is definitely a YouTube channel I'd recommend:

1. "Con Artists Unveiled" (on Prime) is a solid watch.

These last few are more specialized, but also very relevant:
- "The Game" by Neil Strauss is more about pick-up artists but covers many tactics of psychological manipulation.
- "The Art of Deception" and "The Art of Invisibility" by Master Social Engineer Kevin Mitnick (RIP), the world's most famous - and formerly most wanted - computer hacker, cover real stories and examples of how social engineering can be combined with hacking.
Again, if I had more info to go on specifically, I could give a more specialized list, but as a broad answer, these are a few resources that will help them to understand scammers' methods and protect themselves from various forms of deception and manipulation.

What version of Amethyst are you using? Is it from GitHub or Google Play? How old is your Android?

Run it through Amethyst via Tor/Orbot setup and as long as you have Orbot app downloaded, on Android it actually doesn't need to take up the VPN slot, which is very cool, so one can keep an always-on VPN connected with Killswitch engaged, independent of, and in addition to the usage of Orbot.

Relays can track IPs. This does not mean they are not decentralized. Use a VPN and/or Orbot/Tor. I agree with @npub1wmr…g240, we need to advertise the onion and dns addresses of relays and have and normalize relay setups that use onion and Tor by default.

Maybe one day that will happen, and I hope so. Would be a lot cooler if Amethyst implemented it. I remember the dev saying something like, garnet was basically a poc to encourage clients to implement a Monero wallet. I don't think this dev was expecting it to blow up as big as it did as a client, and charging to fix ones own negligence is not a sustainable model.

Yes, but garnet won't even install alongside Amethyst because the app ID still needs fixing. That is basic stuff. That should be fixed. I can understand setting a bounty to add new features, but charging to fix bugs that come from negligence, is a bit much.

I can understand setting a bounty to add new features, but not to fix bugs. Setting a bounty to fix bugs seems a bit much. He's asking for money to even change the app ID so it will install properly.

Yeah, I really want to LOVE garnet, but garnet seems to be running a "pay to dev" model ATM, and that's a little weird. Like, you do a thing many people want, then you put up bounties to keep it relevant?
garnet still doesn't have the gossip model, and is lagging way behind in updates, and the dev seems to be like, "yeah, I know, pay me and I'll work on it." That doesn't seem like a solid sustainable foundation imo.
