We’re excited to announce that we are now live in Australia and New Zealand, complete with an updated onboarding workflow designed to help new users understand keys, find people to follow, and create their first post. If you’re in Australia or New Zealand and have been waiting for an easy-to-use app to introduce to your friends and family, encourage them to check out Nos!

- Updated the onboarding screens with a new design.

It’s time for another Nos update! In today’s 0.2.2 release, we have a handful of improvements for you:
- Updated the media viewer that displays images, videos, and web pages inside of notes.
- Removed image and video link text from notes. Now only the images and videos will appear, without the link.
- Added new translations for the app so you can use it in Korean, Chinese Simplified, Swedish, and more! Thanks to alternative, 안마리 (everyscreennetwork), Andypsl8, Dženan (Dzenan), ObjectifMoon, ra5pvt1n, and everyone else who contributed translations on Crowdin!

Today we’re releasing a few bug fixes in Nos 0.1.25:
- Fixed an issue where the sheet asking users to set up a NIP-05 username would appear after reinstalling Nos, even if the profile already had a NIP-05 username.
- Fixed a bug where urls with periods after them would include the period.
- Fixed a bug where confirmation dialog buttons turn red while swiping across them.

User Handles
This identifier is another mechanism of verifying a public key belongs to the account you think it does. Formatted like an email address, it often sits in a user profile.
Nos users can set a user handle in Nos either after signing up for a Nostr account or by logging in with an existing private key.

Thanks for asking these questions! The Residency and Accelerator programs are designed to allow Creators and Journalists to experiment with micropayments via Zaps. When we onboard Creators and Journalists we offer them the opportunity to also set up a wallet via Primal so they can receive Zaps (and send them!). Those that are not in NY state have taken us up on the offer if they do not already have a wallet set up.
Based on what we’re seeing anecdotally - the minimum Zap amount is likely too low. 42 Sats is $0.007 in USD. It might be good to bump it to $0.10 or $0.25.
Listening to some creators (many of whom are not in the Residency program) they observe that Nostr users are more likely to zap for “hot takes” or “memes” rather than original content. Today Zaps are treated a lot like a “like” in the UI and this might be one of the challenges. Are we asking people to Zap at the right point in time or is there a different point in time when it makes more sense to ask someone to Zap?
The middle ground appears to be well curated feeds where people are sharing content from elsewhere with some commentary on why they are sharing. In these instances it is the curator who is receiving the Zaps rather than the original Creator.
We would be curious to hear from folks about their thoughts on any of the above including @npub1lrn…qnw5 ‘’ ’s question about alternative micropayment options. Predicting future behavior is always a challenge, but if someone is not zapping bc of lack of access to Bitcoin for example, that’s helpful information to have.

Yes according to our tests. They have updated their API that external apps like ours use, but their site should be fine. Upload the image, copy the url and paste into the post and you should be able to include an image on Nos!

- Discover tab now features accounts instead of content, making it easier to find different types of people to follow.
UPDATES to EXISTING FEATURES
Content moderation is a key element of curating one’s own feed. To that end we’ve made some updates across our content moderation tools to simplify the process and minimize harassment.
- Moderators now have the option to “Send to Nos” for review & labeling
- Instead of “reporting” we’ve updated the language in the app to reflect the intention of NIP56 which is more about labeling.
- Fixed duplicate content labels so they read correctly in Nos.
SEARCH
- We have stopped using nostr.band for things other than search, which should improve both search results and performance of the app.
MENTIONS LINKS
- We improved the UI for displaying mentions and clicking on mentions links across the app. This includes Display Name mentions, NIP05 mentions and NPUB mentions.
- We are now publishing the relay list when registering a new NIP-05 username so
that other users can find you more easily.
BUG FIXES
- Fixed an issue on Mac where Edit Profile screen sometimes did not appear.
- Fixed an issue where registering a NIP-05 username field could fail silently.
- Fixed an issue where users named with valid urls were unable to be mentioned correctly.

Of course, but we are trying to get a broad variety of people on who are going to use bitcoin and lightning but are talking about other things. One thing we discovered in our user research was that the nostr community was welcoming and friendly, many folks who didn't know about bitcoin liked using zaps, but that people wanted to see people talking about other things.
