So far no sats were hurt in my case, but these criminals probably gained access to my personal details. Which neither Booking not only hotel has ever done a proper GDPR data breach disclosure for.

TIL yet another way banks abuse AML "compliance": to get rid of a mortgage and liquidate the house. The bank didn't do their due diligence when accepting the mortgage, which under Dutch law is insufficient grounds for termination.
So they started asking questions about her birth country and her foreign boyfriend, both unrelated the mortgage. And we didn't sufficiently answer those they terminated the mortgage - so unless she wins the upcoming trial she'll be homeless with kids.

Also I think banks should offer a savings product that you cannot withdraw from online at all. You have to pick a physical branch in advance and go there in person to withdraw.
Right now anyone in the world can call you and take your fiat net worth in an hour of effort. Those folks might still be able to convince you to walk to this branch, withdraw and send it to them, but at least someone at the bank could try and talk you out of it.
Fundamentally though, the fact that any scammer in the world can choose their victim from the entire world population is a fundamental problem which Bitcoin doesn't solve either.

Multiple Dutch judges confirm: not your bank password, not your fiat. It puts on a limit on how much banks have to protect customers from their own recklessness, e.g. installing AnyDesk and giving your password to someone on the phone.
IIUC they're getting 85% back from Bunq bank, but they wanted more.
Sadly this is a numbers game. Most people most of the time might not fall for this scam, but they just need to hit some people at a bad time when they're less alert. That makes them look reckless in retrospect, but I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that you would never make that mistake. You have to defend against these attack all the time, they only need to succeed once.

Seems doable to trace them based on cell phone data and then identify them based on their moving style. But that's assuming the cops care about property rights and harassment. Better get one of those remote controlled machine guns, afaik in some states it's perfectly legal to use lethal force in these circumstances.

Shortening could be done by e.g.:
/e/ for nevent, /p/ for nprofile, etc
Followed by just enough first letters that it's unique.
This works especially well for self hosting because the number of events would be limited (e.g. a whitelist of npubs of yourself and some alt accounts).
A public service could offer this as a SAAS: you get a short URL and (static) server side rendered page for any event/profile you visit, with a cookie to track your balance, NWC or something nuts.

Rabobank has been de-risking 10,000 customers per month (out of 8 million). They have 8,000 employees pissing away €840 million per year for this task.
For comparison: the Stasi had 90,000, which is 5x more per head of population. So it's not too bad really.
The Dutch police budget is €6 billion, a tiny fraction of that is spent on dealing with deluge of surveillance reports pushed by the bankers. With zero proven effectiveness.
