Legacy social media tore us apart, sending many to the extremes unable to talk to each other while keeping "calm conversation" the norm, banning the extreme views they created.
What if we have a world now where the political spectrum inverts itself - all political extremes unite together and fight against the very center-based forces that created them. 1000 seems way more managable than any relay trying to become nostr's one biggest server. I'd say that's the best and simplest starting point - 1 relay per community.
The more complicated versions would be something like 10 relays that allow mixing of communities. So 10 people "ultimately in charge" because they own the relay and have the strongest decisions, with lots of smaller communities with different moderators and rules for what's allowed. This is a more difficult problem, but helps keep responsibility managable.
Communities have their own rules for posting, but still need to comply with whatever the relay operators' rules. If the communities don't like those rules, they can go to a different set of relays just like individual users.

1) Text search on the title + author of a note
2) Semantic search on content

Its ultimately about organization of the events.
You can listen to albums in their linear order, or you can create playlists that explore multiple artists and albums. You can customize how you want the information to be organized.
Example: Suppose you want to replace a transmission for your car, but its hard to navigate and understand the several manuals that discuss replacing the transmission. With the event kinds we have, you would be able to navigate the manuals more easily to find the specific pages that discuss transmissions and find the one that you understand the best.
If you look at the feed on next-alexandria.gitcitadel.edu , you'll find everything organized like regular books and articles - closed, linear and isolated. Great for reading as we normally do.
When you click on the 'visualize' tab, you'll see something similar to an Obsidian knowledge graph, where ideas are scattered around.
In later versions, the individual events will have their own networks.
So again, these event kinds are helpful for data organization, and for future customization to create knowledge graphs and find ideas, books, aricles, etc, that are related to one another.
Kind 30041 is basically a bunch of scattered events that you can search through beyond a single book. Like regular text search of kind 1.
On the other hand, kind 30040 creates the structure of a book for regular reading.

Notes starting off as a flat hierarchy, where they can be organized by tags and unique ids, and then imposing a tree hierarchy for specific contexts,
AND then you can distribute the files/text across relays and servers. One can always worry about larger files, but if you're just working with text (as many file are- code, notes, collaborative docs) you really can go far. Anything requiring larger files just points to a server location.

AI has a lot of space that it can fill. Many components can work together with standard practices and boiler plate code. But no matter the sophistication, there will always be cracks that can only be seen and fixed from human intentionality. The AI always needs a first direction to be sent off to.

Curious to others' opinions.
Do you want hyperbitcoinization? Do you want the internet to be run on nostr? How do you think we'd get there?
I say the strongest path to that is through a (decentralized) education. Where anyone curious can learn anything they'd want, conveyed in a way that is best suited to their background.
If Bitcoin provides the most solid foundation for a collective economic metabolism (the social organization that allocates economic energy to produce economic value). If nostr provides the strongest means for free communication, then educating individuals on how to use it AND how to build it is the most powerful route. If they aren't, then education will will not only point it out to everyone, but also provide guidance on how to build better systems.
Not only that, but in a world where anyone can communicate, we need tools that enable ourselves to distinguish signal from noise. Again, this is where education comes into play.
If all this is true, then the technology stack for our new social operating system starts with three layers.

At some point I wouldn't be surprised if we're mostly communicating through proxy avatars. You're away doing stuff while the avatar soaks up your feed + interactions, you come back to a compressed feed of high signal where you read out what is most relevant, respond to interesting comments. The avatar learns your responses, improves its confidence in answers so you don't need to be subject to redundant information over time.

I'm just so sorry you had to deal with that. I would be devestated if it my recommendation of nostr to a family member or colleague created something like this. I'm working on bringing educational material and scientific content to nostr. How the hell is that going to happen if there is even a chance something like this could happen again?
My client Amethyst has some automatic filtering to not show the image, and I was able to make a report because of the account name.
I don't know, about that last part - I just know that if it is that easy to post from a popular client, on a popular relay, using popular hashtags, that's a REAL problem.
