Similar name, yes: as it happened on Vim and NeoVim
Similar logo? that's kind of more difficult but I don't think you would want that.
Anyway the problem has never been the IP but the force to maintain de project itself. cURL is big, but the surface area as the case if other BDFL such as #Python to have another historical example.
