Web of Trust is the right term because trust is the simplest descriptor.
We cannot (yet?) quantify trust and therefore, it needs to be implied. We create open and competing algorithms to determine trust from any perspective of the network. The actual data we use, regardless of weight, gets us closer to trust without EVER equating to trust itself.
However, a quality of “trust” between individuals IS the simplest descriptor of human connections within a network.
