It was built in the 1720s but there has been a pub here since the late 16th century. \n\nThe Blitz, of course, devastated Limehouse and the East End, so The Grapes is a lucky and remarkable survivor. \n\nIn 2011 the Grapes was purchased by actor Sir Ian Mckellen, film director Sean Mathius and businessman Evgeny Lebedev.
