Some programmers scoff at Scratch because it doesn't scale - ok, fine. That's not the goal. On the other hand I have seen some ridiculously complex things done with Scratch.
Kids don't need to learn to code as much as they need to learn to explore, experiment, fail, persist, research, discuss, compromise, and any number of other things that are useful in general.
