It's pretty much impossible to not support criminals in some small way by virtually every single act on the free market though. That's just how markets work: they benefit everyone in ripple effects. If you trade with someone using bitcoin before they even have bitcoin, you are still increasing that person's wealth and ability to create with other people, and that increases the overall wealth which increases the tax/inflation base. So avoiding supporting criminals, you can sometimes do that directly, but you cannot do it for many many multiple steps.
What is needed for criminals then is a targeted system of identification and discrimination, and competitive networks of insurance agencies that can compel those individuals to pay for their crimes according to some due process standards and to industry best practices that will have developed. Your use of bitcoin, for hodling or for trade, will be benefiting governments and central banks indirectly. It will also be benefiting the people and institutions fighting against them. With your bitcoin, you can choose who to support more though.
