We studied slavery, we went to what was then the permanent slavery exhibition at the Merseyside Maritime Museum (since spun off into its own museum of international slavery), and we also spent a lot of time learning about Amritsar and the Salt March.
It was astonishing to find this wasn't universal, not even close. I can't understand why all kids don't learn this stuff.
