npub1trdnqrfstufc45awha43p6xy2n0v6czuhapzh4r09hap08dg0c6s9gussx (npub1trd…ussx) I use an Android app called c0nnect and I run an XMPP server. I've tried to read messages from the admin side. Even though I have the OMEMO key for my devices, I still can't see the messages.
Currently, I have 3 accounts on 3 different servers. All 3 talk to each other. 2 are on servers I signed up with. They both have options to *not* give an email. Neither one asked for a phone.
In today's corporate controlled world, I love old school systems. Signal is connected to a phone number and email and is ran by a corporation.
XMPP is most like Mastodon in that no one system is controlled by one organization. The service I'm using now for Mastodon was compromised recently but that was an admin mistake.
I was into this stuff before the internet and love old school thinking like these 2 systems.
