The reason why America lead the Cancel Culture revolution and is now also leading the Free Speech counter-revolution, is that the Founders understood that national borders are not enough borders (there can never be enough, which is why we put fences up along our lawns and paddocks), and gave their progeny the immense gift of state borders.
This creates 50 cultural "pools" where ideas and policies can differ, allowing constant experimentation, without affording any one state the right to simply overrun all others, even if they contain the majority of the US population. A minority can hold out very long, in a defensive position, if they have a physical barrier.
In the same way, the Polish are spared the idiocy of German energy policy in the EU, by the strength of their border. National borders create a sort of cultural stop-sign, where ideas have to be reevaluated and convince a new audience, or face rejection.
Do not give up your borders. Do not give up your right to THINK DIFFERENT.
