well lets see…
it cost me about $1300 to build 6 years ago, but tech and competition and availability has improved so you could do it for probably $800 now just using off the shelf Amazon LiFePo4 batteries. I imported the cells directly from China at the time.
I don’t know that i would do it the same way now, having lived completely offgrid for a few years. Id probably build more distributed. Instead of one central battery, several smaller batteries that only feed specific uses, and have them trickle charge off of a main battery which is dedicated to that purpose. More repairable, less chance of complete power failure. if you lose one, you can still limp by until that one is repaired or replaced.
