binkle (nprofile…m5h7) > most people aren't sociopaths in the sense that they need to at least delude themselves
before someone gets autistic about clinical definitions, I'll clarify that I mean it in the colloquial sense that most people are not capable of living with the notion that they unjustifiably act at the expense of others purely to their own benefit. They need some measure of internal justification for doing so. Ego, superego etc. etc. But I think some people deliberately live in a state of bitterness in order to fuel their internal reasoning, it's no longer a "reactionary hurt" when you're intentionally exposing yourself to it. Tbh I do this myself (perhaps I am right now), less as an excuse to use people and more as an excuse to withdraw from them (cannot expend the energy to be empathetic to ppl who are shrimply not there) which I suspect I'm not alone in doing.
