That's definitely the core of the issue. I see a lot of people who use the lack of empathy in others as justification not to practice it themselves, it's hard to tell how much of that is genuinely reactionary (from a place of hurt) and how much of it is just outwardly moralizing what they're doing. It's probably a combination of both since most people aren't sociopaths in the sense that they need to at least delude themselves. Tbh I know some good, empathetic people so I should probably stop being a misanthropic nigger.
