Got on to Meshtastic with Heltec v3 and v2 boards. It's interesting as a 'community' effort, and the three hop range is impressive. It's frustrating that you can't tell which stations you're hitting directly. Traceroute doesn't work at all on some nodes. #meshtastic

@npub1u76…qmwm Thanks, but those threads are on comparatively thin inserts to the poles so I sadly don't think that will work. Just got some M10 bolts from B&Q which has confirmed that the other parts are compatible with standard M10.

Bother! I've just received five 38 cm metal poles to form the lower part of my DIY/ self sourced PAC-12/JPC-7 vertical antenna. They don't fit the base, whip and ground spike. All the descriptions on #aliexpress said 1mm thread pitch. The micrometer says only the poles have a true 1mm thread, so I can't return them. And I can't return the other parts as they are the only ones easily available. They do of course have an M10 fitting but 1.5 mm thread. Engineer a fix or shop again? #hamradio

The #aliexpress and #hamradio co-addiction continues. The next project is the filter board for use with #sdr dongles. This involves winding 28 x 150-2 ferrites with between 10 and 67 turns. The end of my thumbs are getting sore after only 12. The board lists the windings and inductance but my modified LC100 is doing a good job helping me with the measurements, so I can alter the number of windings and spacings for greater accuracy.

The build is progressing nicely for the crap manual antenna tuner. Internal wiring is done. This was £11.42 off AliExpress, by the way. Next - winding the toroid of DOOM! #hamradio
