@npub1tuz…y7d3 @npub1sg7…q8vr In what way is it "more vast than Activitypub"? It's one service with one app - and Mastodon alone has more active users than Bluesky. (Plus Activitypub actually have other services as well. 🙃)

@npub1lsl…9c2x @npub1ckm…gutz My biggest issue with Bluesky, isn't their ideas (some aren't great - but some are). It's that they chose to fragment open social media, instead of improving the standard already backed by the W3C.
It's like if the comic in the article said: "Isn't it cool how these islands are connected? Well, instead of connecting to them, we started a new island chain!"
I fear two smaller networks has a lower chance against the silos than one more robust. 😕

I spend _so_ much of my time posting on here struggling with the 500 character limit. And while I get it can be good to "get to the point" - but that can be at the expense of nuance or being polite...
So, do anyone know of any good #Mastodon instances with a high character limit?
(Also, I seriously think you should increase it here, @npub15wa…ezxc. Come on, it's an instance for writers! We can be trusted. 😉)

We do have a similar thing here in Norway, though - but the default here is Meta's Messenger. At least it's cross-platform, but it's Meta + a terrible app.
One-by-one I've gotten family members on Telegram (not as secure as Signal, but the best service and no tracking) so it's possible, heh. 😅

Is there a way to have clicking on the home button (or something else) take me to "the first unread post" instead to "the newest post"?
I love the idea of inverted timeline, but I feel the aforementioned function is needed for it to work smoothly. That way I could get the objectively (😎) best experience, which is to scroll downwards (so you see the top of posts first) _and_ get newer and newer posts. 🤠

The official apps for Mastodon are absolutely mid. But IMO it's a good thing they spend most of their time on the service, as there's lots of great third party options.
Ivory, as I saw you use, is good. So is Mona, Mammoth, Icecubes ++.
On the web I like both Elk and Phanpy.
So saying "Mastodon doesn't have decent UX" is straight up wrong, IMO.
It's not perfect (but the improvement is fast), but I seriously can't name a single SOME product with better UX!

Ah, too bad... Can’t anyone?
A classic example for me where this is an issue:
I have
Left half: Right half:
Firefox wind 1 Firefox wind 2
Later I change to
Left half: Right half:
Nova NotePlan
I want to get Firefox window 2 on the right side (with Nova still on the left), so I click on Firefox. That opens _both_ windows, so I have to click Nova again (or hide Firefox window 1 or whatever). :(

Clicking an icon in the dock on the #Mac brings forward all windows of that app.
Is there a way/app to change it so it only brings forward the last used window?
If not, consider this a new idea for #FrontAndCenter, @npub15ml…2w4s (with included ignore list and shift+click for opposite behaviour). ☺️
