Is this just for the Lightning gateway? I’ve been reconsidering the decision to display information about the gateway. In the ecash guide for the @npub13s5…l03e community I’m working on, I listed the following reasons for not including information about the gateway.
Why showing gateway information might not be necessary:
1. Cognitive Overload: Most users are not interested in the technical details of how their transactions are processed. Presenting information about gateways, especially vetted versus non-vetted ones, could lead to confusion, as users may not understand what this information means or how to act on it.
2. Trust in the System: In well designed systems, users trust that the service has selected the best pathways for their transactions. By not overwhelming users with technical details, the system can reinforce trust that the backend will manage their transaction securely and efficiently without their intervention.
3. Bettter UX: The goal of good UX is to make the user experience as seamless and intuitive as possible. Introducing gateway information may disrupt this flow by adding unnecessary steps or considerations that the average user doesn’t need to think about.

My vision is to have this automatically happen every time you make a payment. So either ecash or lightning. Ecash tokens would be sent from your default / mint and then a mutlimint swap would be done in the background to balance everything.

Here’s a new design idea I’ve been working on for Cashu wallets to simplify multimint payments. Instead of manually entering amounts, users can set percentage allocations for each mint, and the wallet automatically manages future LN payments according to the allocation.
Users first set their target ratios for each mint, and the wallet then performs an initial multimint swap to balance the funds according to the distribution. Going forward, users won't have to enter manual payment amounts every time they make a payment.
From here on traditional LN payment UX takes over. The wallet handles all the payment calculations and adjustments in the background. What do you guys think?https://m.primal.net/JlaC.mp4

Spent the weekend exploring designs for showing stable assets like USD, EUR on Cashu. A challenging edge case: when users have different assets within a mint, and also spread across different mints. Cross-mint interoperability for stable assets makes my mind melt.

Dove into NUT-11 P2PK over this Sunday, it's pretty cool. You can lock a token to a public key so only its owner can claim it. Got me thinking about designing this into #eNuts. Still wrapping my head around the more advance bits like multisigs and timelocks. More to come!

Question about Bitkey's recovery process: They claim it's a standard 2 of 3 multisig. However, their recovery method seems unconventional. Bitkey allows users to restore their multisig setup even if 2 out of 3 keys are lost by contacting Bitkey for the server key. Does the server key store more than just 1 of 3 private keys? Wouldn't this key need to store the entire multisig data (something like output descriptors)? Script type, derivation path, and private keys for ALL other keys? I agree as well. However, the moment we transition from fiat to eCash, I believe it opens the door for regulatory enforcement and KYC. The strength of the system is its use of Bitcoin as the unit of account. This is a limitation we must design and build around.

Ever since I started designing for Bitcoin eCash wallets, I've noticed something: Getting eCash feels like there's this extra step the user has to complete: Swapping sats via lightning for eCash. I heard this comparison on the Bitcoin Review podcast once – imagine eCash is like poker chips at a casino. It kind of clicked. We give dollars, get chips; give sats, get eCash. Wondering how to best frame this to the end user. Abstract this extra step away or embrace it? What to name it? "Topping up"? "Exchanging"? I like the erm "exchange" because it suggests a two-way process. Users can convert sats to eCash and vice versa.

This is look really nice! The only thing that made me pause was the decision to include 5 tabs in the navigation (notes,followers,following,zaps, muted) that’s a lot of options and routes to present a user all at once. It could be a big cognitive load for the users. Could the tabs be consolidated or cut back in someway?
