I had an old dot matrix printer in the day. That thing was reliable, but the floppy eventually died and we had no backup.
A loooong time later, I got into linux and put it on an old desktop with the huge serial adapter. It just worked :D Worked for about a year and then I could not find the ink anymore. It got sold to a collector of all things. Its probably living its best life if it isnt recycled.

I wish printers were easier...I love that most printers "just work" in all major OSes these days, but now they are less repairable, expensive to get ink, and if they do come with software, its all spam. I wish there was an open source hardware alternative.
3d printers have those kind of options, why not 2d?
