Not sure if anyone else is seeing this but there's been an explosion in the number of houseplant stores in my area, I count at least three in/around Richmond, VA that have opened in the last few years. They sell (obviously) houseplants but also have workshops for potting up your own and creating terrariums. Interesting trend!

I hate that the Dems are nearly identical to the GOP on immigration. Less cruel in that they won't lock kids in cages like Trump did, but I find it hard to believe we can't find a way to welcome people fleeing violence and poverty. Instead we turn them away "sorry, we're closed."

Interesting. I would think the problem would be cardboard coated in that thin waxy material, and/or cardboard with a lot of lettering and graphics on it (the ink). I haven't seen any negative effects from plain cardboard in the few times I've used it so far.

Looking for recommendations for an electric car (battery-powered, not fuel-cell or hybrid) to replace my aging Tacoma at some point in the near future. Would like to keep it under $45k (used) and Tesla is a no-go. My wife drives a Hyundai Elentra and when I drive it when she's out of town, it's always a very pleasant experience so Hyundai is definitely on the short list.

So tired of the BS claim that people are homeless through their own unwillingness to work. No, it's because politicians won't lift a finger to address housing inequity and unafordabililty. $500k + condos leave a lot of people without options. But politicians serve at the pleasure of big developers, because I've yet to see affordable housing anywhere in my area. Just luxury condos and townhomes. I really need to mow the yard but it's 10:50 eastern time and already nearly 90ºF (32ºC). Better for the grass anyway to not cut it short during really hot, dry weather so I think I'll wait until it cools off a bit mid-week (and hopefully will get some rain by then)

I think my run of trying fruit trees is coming to a close. I just checked on our dwarf peach tree and every developing fruit on it is rotting. Two of our three dwarf apple trees already kicked the bucket from some kind of root rot or something.
I think certain fruit trees are only for those who have the time to commit to the constant spraying and fertilizing and pruning they need to reach their full harvest potential.
